National Championship Event Funding

 

F.  National Championship Event Funding

Youth Elite (13 – 15 years of age)

Up to three females and three males will be selected to compete and receive funding at the Canadian Youth Elite National Championships.  Selection will occur at the Saskatchewan Provincial race as designated by STAC.  The STC & STAC may choose to send a different combination of male and female numbers. 

 

Should unforeseen circumstances prevent an athlete from competing or completing the provincial race, the athlete may apply for an exemption to the criteria for national event funding to the STC Advisory Committee via the Provincial Coach.  The athlete must state the reason for exemption. If an injury has been cited as the reason, a Physician's note confirming the injury must be included. 

 

An athlete qualifying for the Youth Elite National Championships and wanting to represent Saskatchewan who is not an STC member will be required to pay an administrative fee that is an equal share of the associated event costs.

 

Individuals wishing to race as independent athletes (not representing Saskatchewan) will forgo STAC funding.  All event costs and arrangements will be the athlete's responsibility.

 

Junior Elite (16 – 19 years of age)

Up to four females and four males will be selected to compete and receive funding at the Canadian Junior Elite National Championships.  Selection will occur at the Saskatchewan Provincial race as designated by STAC.  The STC & STAC may choose to send a different combination of male and female numbers. 

 

Should unforeseen circumstances prevent an athlete from competing in or completing the provincial race, the athlete may apply for an exemption to the criteria for national event funding to the STC Advisory Committee via the Provincial Coach.  The athlete must state the reason for exemption. U23/24+

Those athletes who have been granted a Triathlon Canada International Competition Card are eligible for the STAC designated amount in funding for the National Canadian U23 and/or Senior Championships.

 

An athlete wanting to represent Saskatchewan who is not an STC member will be required to pay an administrative fee that is an equal share of the associated event costs.

 

Individuals wishing to race as independent athletes (not representing Saskatchewan) forgo STAC funding. All event costs and arrangements will be the athlete's responsibility.

 

G.  International Elite Funding

Up to $500 per event in funding is available to athletes that have been selected to represent Canada at the following events:

  • CAMTRI North American Junior Championships
  • CAMTRI Junior Championships
  • Youth Olympic Games Trials
  • ITU World Triathlon Championships.
  • World University Championships (FISU)
  • World Duathlon Championships (Jr., U23, Senior Elite)
  • Other international competitions as approved by the STC Advisory Committee and STAC

Additional funding may be available and is subject to STC Advisory Committee and STAC approval.

 

6. Team Selection

A.  Games Teams (Western Canada Summer Games, Canada Summer Games)

Athletes must be STC members to be considered for selection on Games teams. Preliminary selection criteria will be developed and posted on the STAC website as early as October in the year preceding the Games.  Final selection criteria will be announced when events that pertain to selection have been finalized.  Based on the athletes’ performances relative to the selection criteria, the Provincial Coach will prepare selection recommendations and submit to the STC Advisory Committee who are responsible for submitting to the STAC Board for final approval.
